The Meisel Group of Companies belongs to the leading independent music publishing companies in Germany.

Founded by operetta and movie composer Will Meisel in 1926, the publishing house is still in family property. The catalogues contain many illustrious names, which are conducive to the music industries completeness: e.g. Walter Kollo, Fred Raymond, Gerhard Winkle and Peter Kreuder.

In 1962 Will Meisel gained the Federal Cross of Merit and 1964 the probably most precious award for a composer of entertainment music, the Paul-Lincke-Ring.

In 1960 the second generation joined the publishing company: Will Meisel’s sons, Peter and Thomas Meisel. The Edition Intro was founded. At the age of only 20 and 25, Peter and Thomas Meisel already scored two hits: “Midi Midinette“and “Zwei kleine Italiener“. The composition was coined by Christian Bruhn, the text was written by Georg Buschor, and the singer was Conny Froboess. They were followed by songs with Marianne Rosenberg, Drafi Deutscher und Manuela. Today, after centuries, the two Meisel brothers are able to present hundreds of golden records, 20 of them for international success of the group Boney M.. Recordings with Michael Holm, Ricky Shayne, Gunter Gabriel, Frank Zander, Mary Roos, Rex Gildo, Peter Petrel, Bernhard Brink, Marianne Rosenberg or Roland Kaiser are proof of the keen sense for success of the Meisel brothers.

When the publishing house had its 50 years anniversary, not only the whole guild of German Schlager artists was obliged to it, but also producers as Giorgio Moroder, Frank Farian und Jack White.

The Meisel Group of Companies also contains a record company which today is Monopol. Highlights are recordings with the by the late singer and comedian Helga Hahnemann, the Palast Orchester with its singer Max Raabe, the Schöneberger Sängerknaben and the band Karussell.

Next to his father Thomas Meisel, his son Sven Meisel is associate and managing director of the Meisel publishing companies since 1989. Under his management the company’s catalogue was expanded. Since 2014 Sven Meisel is sole managing director of the Meisel publishing companies.
